Screening of film “San Vito’s Mums” in English with the presence of director Gianni Torres
The documentary “SAN VITO’S MUMS” tells the history of a people of Italian origin who emigrated to Brazil in the early twentieth century, which is distinct from all the Italian community in South America with the invention of the Brazilian people proposing the sale of traditional typical food of the Apulian (and Italian) cuisine and where the proceeds are all for the help and the maintenance of thousands of children.
The fundraising for the support of “Creche de Sao Vito” (San Vito’s Nursery) occurs for 91 years, from May to July during the 14th night of the Festival of Saint Vito where the old women emigrated from Polignano a Mare cook typical Apulian products without payment to sell during the Festival of Saint Vito. It is the charitable initiative most anticipated and followed of Brazil – even by the media – which collects more than 80 thousand people every year.
Gianni Torres wanted to record with the camera the miracle of the women of San Vito, with a work already out on DVD in Brazi. He presents the film at the International Accordion Festival of Castelfidardo, with the accordionist Vincenzo Abbracciante, author of the soundtrack.
The director, GIANNI TORRES
Gianni Torres, from Apulia, born in 1967, began his career in radio as a speaker and author on Radio Channel 94 in Brindisi.
Over time was then occupied by freelance advertising (copywriter and art). As a Producer has made the World Campaign of Swedish phone giant Ericsson, in collaboration with British photographer K. Murray appointed by Publics Limited of London.
He worked for the TV working with RAI and Mediaset to Art Expert. He founded and directed Dilectus first monthly of Appointment with the Entertainment widespread throughout Apulia.
He has worked on major events as director and creator including: Modugno Torna a casa”, “Volare Insieme”, “Evasioni Musicali”, “Festival delle Voci Carcerate”, “Celebrazioni Ufficiali per i 50 anni di Volare” which he edited the artistic director.
