FRANCO CAMPANARI: THE ETHOS OF BEAUTY

Kalos kai agathos, was the seal of the classical Greek beauty, beauty as manifestation of good and truth brightness.
From this point of view art, every kind of art, but the plastic one in particular, expresses an ethical dimension where it can reflect the spirit of a people. This lesson is well received by Campanari in his Monument to Accordion (which wants to be a tribute to Alberto Bacchiocchi), where the mythological component rises as a need, able to establish a civil community’s memory and identity, so that it could recognize its present time and the future planning dimension.
On the other hand, the fact that this monument is located in a public space shows the idea, very fixed and spread in the architecture, that beauty is the same ethical need of man’s city; a space that gives art an hospitable residence, mark of a high civil conscience, and it’s a real recovery of that Humanitas invoked on all sides.
