Spring Festival – Artists

“I TANGHERI” (the Bumpkins)
Starting from a combination of jazz and tango, they elaborate a world in which they mix Latin America, blues and pure Italian spirit moving from Coltrane to Gardel, from DeAndrè to Gato Barbieri. Always with a deep sense of show and irony. They recorded their first disc after many concerts in festivals and musical events: “Historias of the Sur”, a much acclaimed work by critics and public alike. The work is a snapshot of their musical vision of that moment and the continuation of this work was recorded with the participation of one of the most important musicians in the world-wide panorama, the guitarist Marc Ribot. He was fascinated by the ability that the Tàngheri have to start from the tango then exploring the more distant corners of the musical world, from Argentine traditional to Italian traditional to the musical vanguard. “Silente” was released via Wide Sound and the Tàngheri became one of the mainstays of Italian jazz, participating in festivals like Terni in Jazz, Nights of Stars, Jazz in Rodi, Orsara Music, Lauria Jazz Festival, Talos Festival, Teano Jazz Winter, Fasano Jazz, Brindisi in Jazz, Premio citta Knights of Malta, Gualdo Mig.Fest. and many other important reviews. But the musical axis undergoes another variation with “The Dharma Bums”, their latest work. Veiled and transformed at this point from “taste” to “smell” the atmospheres of the tango, the re discovery of the vintage sound of the Farfisa and other electro acoustic instruments combine to create a small masterpiece of its type. A disc of maturity, where the perfectly integrated presence of Ribot, contributes to create a magical and active atmosphere to a work at the musical forefront, but perfectly enjoyable, thanks to the ever present melodic vein.
